Driver Job Types

When drivers come to DTI Canada from other trucking companies, they stick around. Our drivers receive best-in-class compensation (per mile or per hour depending on job type) and operate late model, state-of-the-art equipment. We also require every new driver to complete a thorough training and orientation program to ensure our fleet is operating as safely as possible at all times.

Driving with DTI Canada

Ready to take the wheel with DTI Canada? We currently offer three options for licensed commercial drivers:

Long haul drivers

Long Haul Driver (AZ Endorsement)

Long haul drivers (or “pin to pin” or “dock to dock” drivers) handle purchase order transfers between both of Dot Foods’ Canadian distribution centers (Calgary and the Greater Toronto Area) as well as select locations in the United States. Long haul drivers are not required to handle freight.

Customer Delivery Drivers (CDS)

CDS drivers operate on a 4×3 schedule (four days on, three days off) and are responsible for delivering and breaking down freight at customer docks. CDS drivers are home just about every night with occasional single overnight travel required.

Shunter

Shunters stay on the premises of the distribution center lot and are responsible for moving loads from dock to dock. Shunters typically run a five-day per week schedule.

Driver Training

Every new DTI Canada driver goes through a thorough training process to ensure they are comfortable behind the wheel before ever heading out on a solo trip.
